My latest “Collection of Heavenly Bodies”
reflects my passion as an artist and the communion we share with
nature, art and culture. These figurative wall sculptures focus
on the mystical goddess - magical and beautiful, and our connection
with planet earth and the spiritual.
These hand painted silken beauties touch the viewer’s imagination
and emotion. Their ethereal presence enhances the importance of
surrounding yourself with beauty - as art is nourishment for the
spirit.
I begin each creation with a piece of white silk, which I hand
paint using a wet on wet watercolor process and enhance with metallic
gold. The patterns are my original designs. My artwork has always
been about attention to detail. In addition to hand painting,
I have embellished using techniques of free-motion embroidery,
eyelash yarn wrapping, beading with pearls, crystals and semi-precious
stones and natural feathers, some of which are pheasant, peacock,
marabou and goose.
My goal as a fiber artist is to create pieces that are pleasing
to the eye, sensual to the touch and soothing to the soul.
